Individual Courses

Calvert Math teaches key math skills and how to apply them to everyday life situations. The program provides daily lessons and step-by-step directions and places strong emphasis on the higher-level critical thinking and problem solving skills. Each course includes a textbooks, a lesson manual, and digital lessons.

Math in Focus uses the world-renowned Singapore method and is based on Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Math in Focus: Singapore Math textbook. The course emphasizes conceptual understanding, critical thinking, problem solving, and skills fluency. Your child will focus on fewer concepts that are taught to mastery, thereby eliminating the need to reteach concepts year after year. Each course includes a textbooks, a lesson manual, and digital lessons.

These courses include an in-depth study in grammar, sentence diagramming, vocabulary, and writing various composition pieces including research reports, narrative and expository writing, poetry, and more. Each course includes a textbooks, a lesson manual, and digital lessons.

Calvert’s reading courses emphasize developing strong reading comprehension skills. Literature selections include classic historical novels, poetry, drama, nonfiction, speeches, sonnets, plays, and more. Each course includes a textbooks, a lesson manual, and digital lessons.

Calvert’s History & Geography courses offer a complete grade-level course pertaining to topics such as: early American History, the birth of Western Civilization, the fall of Rome, modern U.S. history, geography, and more. Each course includes a textbooks, a lesson manual, and digital lessons.

Calvert’s Science courses offer a complete grade-level course pertaining to topics such as plants & animals, life science, physical science, earth science, genetics, light, motion, forces, and more. Each course includes a textbooks, virtual labs and activities, a lesson manual, and digital lessons.

Students apply concepts from Calvert’s Art History lessons and to create and explore techniques such as Egyptian line drawing, soft-dough sculpture, relief sculpture, designing buildings, and symmetry design. Lessons are coordinated with Calvert’s A Child’s History of Art series.
